Activities near Saint Emilion

Saint Emilion / Belves de Castillon area:

The  region rooted since Roman age, the wine of the Castillon’s region hasn’t stopped standing out and growing with the age. Till 1921 its wines were known under the denominator  “Saint-Emilionnais” or  “Near Saint-Emilion”. It’s in 1931 that will be utilized for the first time “Côtes de Castillon”.

It’s here that Pierre Loti, Michel de Montaigne, Edmond Rostand drawing the inspiration from the more beautiful page.It’s here that took in 1453 in the Colly plain the battle wich ended the battle of one hundred age and determined the linking up of the Aquitaine to French Crown.
Wonderful abrupt slopes prevailing the Dordogne river, facing the western, raised to one hundred heght.
They offer to the wineyard ideal conditions of exposition and exposure.

The region is also famous for its gastronomie: truffes- foie gras and its mild climate

This is a wonderful location for wine tasting, with the most prestigious CHATEAUX like Château Ausone or Château Cheval Blanc under 10 minutes from the property!

Transfer by car is possible by the proprietor for short trip.

The "Classical Music and wine in the châteaux" concerts takes place from March to December around Saint Emilion.For more information, do note hesitate to ask me the program.

You have also: Tennis - Equitation - Cruising and canoëing down the Dordogne -Canoe Rental – Available at Pessac-sur-Dordogne and Ste-Foy-la-Grande both with 15 minutes.

Chateau Vigiers Golf – Championship golf course with daily green fees available. Combined with superb Brasserie and Restaurant with outdoor swimming pool - great for the kids.

Ste-Foy-La-Grande – beautiful 13th century bastide town 20 minutes away and with all amenities required for your stay (supermarkets, restaurants, cinema, tourist office, post office, and shopping). Has fantastic weekly market.

Tennis - there is tennis available in Saint Emilion..

Markets - There are many fabulous markets in the surrounding towns and villages - lots of vide greniers (literally 'empty attic' sales), night time markets and farmers markets where the local farmers sell their produce and you can then sit down and eat it on the spot and enjoy the atmosphere. Just perfect!

Horse Riding – Hacks and riding lessons available within 3 minutes drive.

Beaches/lakes - there are several man-made swimming lakes with beaches in the vicinity. The majority have sandy beaches, children's play areas, pedaloes, restaurants, fishing and one even has horse riding. A great cheap day out

 

 

Fabulous Bordeaux city and the ocean are under one hour drive away.
